OTM 1 - "The Game Has Changed"

The Game Has Changed talks a lot about journalism and how to be more effective through what they are producing. It goes on to compare Donald Trump to Vladimir Pooten because they run their press conferences similar to one another. Alexie Covelev noted in medium, that they are similar because Trump dominates everything and anything during these press conferences, she goes on to say, everyone else is a just prop to him.

Trump calls out CNN because he is frustrated with the "fake" news that continues to get released about him. I liked how this was explained on this broadcast, I felt it explained the scenario quite well. He stated, "Buzz-feed presumably published it in part because CNN was reporting on it CNN was reporting on it because intelligence officials had briefed trump on it, intelligence officials briefed trump on it because senior congressional leaders were passing it around senior congressional leaders may have been passing it around it part because senate minority leader harry reed allotted too it in a letter blasting FBI director James Comine for publishing information harmfully Hillary Clinton but not publicizing the dirt on Trump" (The Game Has Changed).

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? I'm shook, people. Buzz feed released a document referring to Donald's relations with Russia, even though they did not have full validation that everything in the document was true. LIKE, WHAT?! It's misleading and wrong for many reasons and makes our President look untrustworthy and undesirable. The whole thing could be made up for all we know! The only thing that I think Buzz-feed did an okay job on was the fact that they came out and said the dossier they released about Mr. Trump and Russia's relations may not be true. That the dossier was speculation. I think that was just to cover their own skin. "It's almost unbelievably bias." This makes things very difficult for the American people. What do we trust? And the fact that some individuals were believing all, or some of the information published was true.

I do not agree with Buzz-feed's approach don't like how they sent it out before fully validating the information. Now, people can take this information Buzz-feed publicly released and create more problems and spit out more fake information. This is the last thing America needs, but sadly, this is a huge issue we see with news today.

When the news is focused on stories that do not have all the facts, it distracts from other important news. Maybe this is what the media wants? For this reason, it's difficult for me to take what is said on the news seriously. Which brings up another big issue. If there was something major happening in the world, I might not take as proactive of action because to me, it's just the news being the news, exaggerating and not giving me the whole truth, so why worry? How can we trust the news and what can we trust exactly?

We need to know the facts before we believe what we are reading or seeing tweeted. The next story address how President Trump's tweets are effecting people on the truth. George Lakeoff explains how to handle his tweets. He goes on to tell how you have to understand what he means in his tweets before making an opinion. Trump has said some crazy things. Half of the time I laugh at what he says because I feel like he has no idea what he is talking about. From Illegal votes, to putting up a wall. Lakeoff explains that he may be trying to re-frame our opinion by diverting our attention to his tweets. "The inauguration is going to be so great great great that you cant even buy a dress in Washington DC, they're all sold out" -Trump (twitter)
